Abstract Art

Hi people,

I am a painter and I love abstract art which is generally understood to mean art that does not depict objects in the natural world, but instead uses color and form in a non-representational or subjective way. In Western art, an abstract art is one without a recognizable subject, one which doesn’t relate to anything external or try to “look like” something. Instead the color and form is the subject of the abstract painting. It’s completely non-objective or non-representational.The more precise terms, “non-figurative art” and “non-objective art,” avoid any possible ambiguity. Here is one example of Abstract by me.

  2. As an artist I often find that people do not entirely understand that there are many forms of abstract art. It’s true that the general understanding is that abstract art does not depict anything in the natural world and the subject is simply a visual language of color and form. This is true of non-representational abstract art (which I love to create), but this is simply not true for all abstract art out there. The word “abstract” means a departure from reality, but this departure can sometimes be only a slight one. This in-turn leaves room for partially abstract figures, semi-abstract seascapes, abstract landscapes, etc.
